So, you are thinking about volunteering to be a Technical Specialists?
That’s great! The more Technical Specialists New Mexico has the better.
You don’t need to be some sort of guru on all things HAM radio. You don’t need to be some 100 WPM Extra Class HAM that does vector arithmetic in their sleep. You just need to have an interest in some particular area or have a willingness to take on a question and research the answer.
You also need to have a Technician license (or an older Novice class license) or higher and be a member in good standing with ARRL.
